Let There Be

Let there Be is part of the Teapots in Trees series, inspired by a vision during prayer. Like the other paintings in the series, it invites contemplation rather than offering a single interpretation. The title is reminiscent of words from the Bible during creation. The liquid could be tea or gold.
Thick layers of paint, together with stencilled marks and expressive brushwork, create a tactile, energetic composition that draws the eye through the painting. This is a bit of fun but my touch a deeper note as we think about the hospitality of teapots who who has given us that gift over time.
