Host

Host is part of the Teapots in Trees series, inspired by a vision during prayer. Like the other paintings in the series, it invites contemplation rather than offering a single interpretation. The title may suggest the lady of the house hosting a tea party, or the wine rather than tea being pored links to the Host in the Eucharist. Each viewer is free to discover their own meaning.
Painted in richly textured oil, including  stencilled marks and expressive brushwork, create a tactile, energetic composition that draws the eye through the painting.
